Aesthetic treatments are now sold everywhere in Pakistan, from hospital skin departments to salons and home visits. The machines look the same in photos and prices swing widely. What actually changes your result, and your risk, is who assesses you, what goes on your skin and what happens after you leave. These ten checks work in any city and at any clinic, Venus Aesthetics included.
1. Who will assess and treat you?
Ask one question when you call: will a doctor see me before the treatment? It matters because the same laser setting or peel that suits one skin can burn or darken another. The American Academy of Dermatology warns that laser hair removal in inexperienced hands can cause burns, lasting colour changes and scars. Ask for the doctor's full name and confirm they are registered with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).
At Venus Aesthetics the first consultation is with a doctor, it is free at all 8 branches, and there is no obligation to book anything afterwards.
2. Is the clinic itself registered?
Doctors are registered with PMDC, while clinics answer to provincial regulators. In Punjab that is the Punjab Healthcare Commission, which registers and licenses healthcare establishments in Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and the rest of the province. Sindh has the Sindh Healthcare Commission and Islamabad has the Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority. Asking a clinic about its registration is a fair question, and a well-run clinic answers it without fuss.
3. Will they show you the genuine product or name the device?
Injectables and skin boosters come sealed, with a brand name and a batch number. Ask to see the pack opened in front of you. For machine treatments, ask what the device is and whether it is medical grade, then look it up yourself. Clinics that invest in proper equipment are happy to name it. At Venus, for example, the facial sold as Venus Glow is genuine HydraFacial, not a look-alike.
4. Do you get a written plan and price before you pay?
Unclear pricing is the complaint people raise most about aesthetic clinics. Before paying anything you should know the plan, roughly how many visits the doctor expects, what each one costs and what happens if you need more. Get it in writing. A clinic that quotes only once you are on the treatment bed, or changes the number at the counter, is showing you how it will treat you later.
Venus gives a written plan and price at the free consultation, before you decide. Laser hair removal is quoted per area or for the full body, and that written quote is valid across all 8 branches, so you can start in one city and continue in another. Consultations for medical skin conditions at the dermatology clinic cost Rs 3,500 and are by appointment.
5. What do recent reviews say, and how does the clinic reply?
A star rating is easy to inflate. Patterns are much harder to fake. Read the newest reviews first, then the one and two star ones. Look for detail, such as the branch, the treatment and the staff member, and look at how the clinic replies to complaints. A calm, specific reply that offers a review visit tells you more than a hundred short five star reviews.
For reference, the 8 Venus Aesthetics branch profiles on Google held 10,148 reviews between them in October 2026, rated 4.9 out of 5 (Karachi 4.8).
6. Are the before and after photos comparable?
Honest before and after photos use the same light, angle and distance, show the whole area and name the treatment. Filters, fresh makeup or a new camera angle can make any result look bigger than it was. Ask whether the photos show the clinic's own clients. You can browse the Venus before and after gallery by treatment and judge them with the same eye.
7. Do they ask the safety questions first?
Before laser, peels, injections or microneedling, a careful clinic asks about pregnancy and breastfeeding, the medicines you take, including acne tablets and blood thinners, recent sun exposure or tanning, cold sores, keloid scars and any skin infection. If nobody asks, nobody is screening you. The NHS guide on what to think about before a cosmetic procedure is a useful read before any first appointment.
8. Is hygiene visible in the room?
You should see single-use needles and tips opened in front of you, fresh gloves for each client and a clean treatment room. Ask how devices are cleaned between clients. These are basic standards, not premium extras, and you are allowed to ask about them.
9. What aftercare and follow-up are included?
Ask what to do and avoid afterwards, who to call if something feels wrong and whether a review visit is included. Written aftercare is a good sign. With laser, the American Academy of Dermatology notes that most patients can have a session once every 4 to 6 weeks and that the doctor decides when the next one is safe, so the plan should follow how your skin responds.
10. Does anyone push you to decide today?
"Offer ends today" is a sales line, not medical advice. A good consultation ends with information, a written plan and time to think. If you feel rushed, leave, and come back with someone you trust.

Questions to take to your consultation
- Who will perform my treatment, and what are their qualifications?
- Is this treatment right for my skin type and tone?
- If something goes wrong, what happens next?
- Can I have the full plan and its cost in writing?
- Which aftercare steps matter, and who do I call afterwards?
The American Academy of Dermatology keeps a longer list of questions to ask before a cosmetic treatment.
