Alopecia & Medical Hair Loss

Effective hair-loss treatment starts where it must: with a diagnosis. Our dermatologists identify which type of loss you have, pattern loss, alopecia areata, telogen effluvium or scarring alopecia, then build a targeted medical plan, adding PRP or exosome therapy only where those genuinely help.

What it is

Understanding Alopecia

Hair loss is a symptom, not a diagnosis. Sudden circular patches, gradual thinning at the crown, heavy shedding a few months after an illness and permanent scarring loss all look distressing but need completely different treatment. Treating the wrong one wastes months, and in scarring alopecia those months matter, because follicles lost to scarring do not come back.

Signs we treat

Come in if you recognise any of these

  • Sudden coin-sized bald patches
  • Heavy shedding two to three months after illness, surgery or childbirth
  • Gradual thinning at the crown or a widening parting
  • A receding hairline in men
  • Redness, scaling or discomfort on the scalp alongside loss
How we treat it

Your plan, step by step

1

Examine and diagnose

Scalp examination and, where needed, blood tests establish the actual cause rather than guessing.

2

Treat the medical cause

Iron, thyroid, hormonal and autoimmune drivers are addressed properly, because no topical fixes a systemic cause.

3

Targeted medical therapy

Prescribed treatment matched to your loss type and stage.

4

Add regenerative support where it fits

PRP, Fusion PRP or exosome therapy are offered when your diagnosis is one they actually help, not by default.

5

Track it properly

Standardised photographs at set intervals so progress is measured rather than remembered.

FAQs

Alopecia, answered honestly

Why do I need a diagnosis before treatment?
Because the treatments are different. Pattern loss, alopecia areata, telogen effluvium and scarring alopecia all present as hair loss but respond to completely different plans, and one of them is time-sensitive.
Will PRP work for me?
It helps in some diagnoses and does very little in others. We will tell you honestly whether your type of loss is one PRP is likely to help before you spend anything on a course.
Is my hair loss permanent?
That depends on the type. Telogen effluvium usually recovers, pattern loss can be slowed and improved, alopecia areata often regrows, and scarring alopecia causes permanent loss in the affected area, which is why early assessment matters.
Can stress cause hair loss?
Yes, most often as telogen effluvium, where shedding starts a couple of months after the stressful event. It usually recovers, but persistent shedding deserves proper investigation.
Do I need blood tests?
Often, yes. Iron, thyroid, vitamin D and hormonal markers are common contributors, particularly in women, and correcting them changes what any other treatment can achieve.
How long before I see regrowth?
Hair grows slowly, so meaningful change is measured over months, not weeks. We take standardised photos so you can see real progress rather than relying on memory.
